An all-over diamond lattice in deep red on warm champagne silk. Each cell of the grid contains a cross-star or floral motif, with swirling tendrils filling the spaces between. The pallu is three worlds stacked: a narrow black-and-ivory floral band, a deep red stripe with ivory leaf vine, and a wide black border carrying large ivory paisley. Jaali is the word for the pierced stone screens of Mughal architecture — the carved marble latticework through which light falls in patterns.
